New hood for MK1 cabriolet

Hi Guys and Girls,

Advice needed: I have just brought my Mk1 cabriolet and it has a couple of nicks on the edge. I have been shopping around for a new hood and have been quoted £365 for mohair and fitting by car hood in Surrey and £295 in Croydon. I am based in London/Surrey, does anyone know if these are fair prices or should I continue to shop around?

Sounds right. A mohair roof from CarHoodsDirect is £235 (members get a 10% discount)

do it yourself, easy enough just take your time

To save opening a new thread, I'll ask the question here.

I will be replacing my hood and while Im at it I'm going to replace the headlining and middle layer too.

It's not included in the hood replacement guide so is there a guide elsewhere for this?

Our tops have the heat weld line on each side of the top (not a stitch line like some others)

Please accept my apologies for not getting on here sooner. I have been busy with work and car ( as usual not enough time when you own a old vw ha ha ha. I had found someone in Croydon ( a lot closer to home) who fits roofs. But please let me thank you for responding on my post.
