Mk2 VR6 problems :S

Hey, theres an opportunity to buy a mk2 golf vr6 conversion. It starts fine, but as soon as i start to lift the clutch, the car shakes, and i mean, it shakes.

At crawling speeds its at its worst,

The bodywork is poor but i dont mind it, i just dont want to plough money into the car if its a bag of hammers :/


Genuinely thats as much as i can give you, because the guy doesnt know what started it off, he had it driving for a year before it started shaking,

Any help to figure out the problem would be appreciated, thanks a lot :)

Vr6 mk2 are hard to get right, gap down the left hand side of the engine ( bonnet open looking at engine ) needs to be minimal but not touching chassis leg, drive shaft length and running the car too low on coil overs causes rubbing of drive shafts on internal engine bay!

Not a conversion I would bother doing as you can get similar power out of lighter engines !

coilpacks common fail on these, leads, could be anythign really plug vagcom into it see what it says. if no vagcom port, have to ask yourself why when its so easy, what other wire fails will there be...
