Mk1 projector headlights?? DIY??

Post

Evening all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever made a set of projector headlights from crystal style lamp units like these?:

I have a spare set of light units aswell as a set of projector units, ballasts and bulbs and was wondering if I could combine them??
I know they should self level (rekon I could get them pretty level by eye) and would need headlamp washers (pretty easy job) but I'm just wondering if it would be worth the hassle?
Other option is to relay the current lamps and bulbs on the car but I love the light output of the projector/HID lights.

What's peoples thoughts?

Cheers,

Andy

PS: MODs please move if this is in the wrong place

I thought about this for a long time, then I found somewhere in the US that sell the headlights for RHD with projectors already fitted for next to nothing…

http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_nkw=VW+Golf+Jetta+MK1+Headlight+Pair+7+CLEAR+HEADLIGHTS+GLASS+LENS+PROJECTOR+LED&_itemId=201430527673&_trksid=p2047675.m4096

Then I decided that I'm going to fit H4 LED's instead as HID's are more of a pig to fit and LED will produce the same effect as a normal bulb so don't need projectors. Also no hassle with headlight washers or MOT.

I also found someone on VW Vortex who did it to a caddy and decided it looked weird with projector lights..

I've been thinking about LED headlights since but I think short term I'm just going to relay the headlights.

I actually quite like that caddy, its one of the photos in the links in my first post.
