Mk1 golf clipper won't idle

Post

head gasket went last year changed it through winter months now got it back up running but can't get it to idle. I have the weber carb with manual choke and why choke is out its fine but when you start to reduce the choke down aprox 1200 rpm it cuts out. I've not altered the idle screw I am assuming it's something else as it was fine before this. The vac pipe from the dizzy goes to another pipe between servo and carb but there is 2 points where it could go I do believe one is a non return valve how ever as you look from front of car at it I have broke the right hand one does anyone know if the dizzy vac should go on left hand one or right? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i didnt think it matter which one it went into

if it will idle with the choke out but when it's not on choke it dies i should see if you can adjust the idle screw on the throttle maybe

Thanks for reply. I think it might be sorted I removed vac pipe from dizzy it ran better then adjusted the idle screw. There are various comments on the Webber carb some say you don't need the vac too dizzy and some say you do. Didn't have mine long before head gasket went but originally instead of vac pipe going too dizzy it returned on itself to the servo pipe……
