Fuel Injector confusion

Post

I'm hoping someone can help me.

I have a 1986 mk1 Golf cabrio 1.8, I need new injectors but I'm being given conflicting information trying to source them. My car has 3 injectors with part no 026133551 on them and one which says 049133551A on it. I contacted my local VW dealer and having given him my reg he said I needed part no 035133551F.

The car is not running and I know the previous owner had a go at repairing it but his knowledge was limited which makes me wonder if the injectors currently on the car are correct or not.

Please can someone point me in the right direction as to which part no is the correct one?? I know where I can buy new ones but cant risk buying until I know for definate which ones to get.

026133551 are early type with coarse thread, the switchover happened around june 86 so its possible they are correct for your car.  049133551A are also early type coarse thread and are compatible with 026133551 AFAIK.

035133551F are later fine thread injector and wont fit your car unless you also swap the fuel lines over.

the injectors above are all the same spec however, the later ones have the air shrouded injector system but the early ones do not. no big deal either way I have run both types in a 16v and noticed sod all difference.

the good news is since you have early coarse thread injectors you can buy the cheaper brass mercedes injectors, these are same spec as the above so direct fit.

Can only echo what John has said after finding out the hard way.
I ordered some new Hel fuel injector lines & they they supplied me with the later fine thread connections ( I did tell them my car was a 1983 1.8 gti). After doing a bit of research I decided I definately wanted to stick with the coarse thread so I could use the merc brass injectors and sent my lines back to be swapped over. I then had a bit of luck & scored 8 barely used merc injectors for £20

Thats great, thanks for the advice.  I've ordered some merc injectors so hopefully get them fitted this weekend and get the car running. Its very frustrating having the car on the driveway and not being able to drive it.:ocf_emoticons__BangHead:
