Hi guys. Not really been on here much since i signed up,just been a viewer rather than a poster.Ive been out enjoying my Gti……Until now………Here's the story.
3.30pm today i arrive home from work ,park my car outside my house as per usual. Then 30 minutes later i hear a thud, then my alarm blurring away.Goes out to see whats happening and to my horror my neighbour opposite had left her 2 kids asleep in there car ,one wakes up and lets the handbrake off ,there driveway is on a slope ……..bang,straight into my beloved GTi .To say im peed off is an understatement.Im hoping it can be repaired(at there insurance cost) .Heres a few pics i took .

So it looks like im off the road for a while ,only had the car 6 months .

Is it repairable ? .Rear quater has been pushed in/dented ,rear wheel arch needs replacing ,rear bumper not really been touched. Both rear wheels need refurb.

Its the rear axle/hubs/anti roll bar and anything else under there thats affected im worried about.

Looks like its gonna cost there insurance company either way.

Gutted for you.
Obviously everything is repairable however I share you concerns over the rear axle problem and what the insurance assessor says. I guess it comes down to whether the repair costs are more than its value? If it is repaired you obviously want it done to the highest standard.
Good luck

Looks like the brunt of the impact was taken through the rear beam and into the opposing kerb. Hopefully its only bent the rear beam and not the chassis it bolts to.

Good luck.

Sorry to see this happen to you Karl.

Problem with old cars are always the insured value, I think just get everything together you can to prove your case that it's worth more to you than the agree'd value!

Lets hope it's easily reparable!

Negative scene points for positive camber!

I hope you've got either agreed value or salvage retention as they'll more than likely want to write it off and offer book value which I doubt you'll want to accept.
