MK1 Caddy

Beautiful weather, sunny days and longer evenings coming and sadly my MK1 is off the road.It's a sin.  I cannot access the boot as the look just spins and spins.Advice about the Gearbox and the Boot lock much appreciated.

What's up with the gearbox? Is it a cabby? Could you not gain access by removing parcel shelf and climbing in?
