cabriolet rear seatbelts

Post

Hi guys.

Have been looking around a lot recently with the intention of buying a cabby. The question I have is about the rear seating and belts. I have 3 children and the boss has said if I can find a way of fitting a third belt in the rear then we can get one.

Has anybody else fitted a third belt in the back or know if it's easily done?

Can't be done I don't think, unless you bodge something yourself. I don't think there's any 5 seater cabriolets on the market in a similar price. There's Citroen DS3 and Jeep Wrangler which are current models, but TBH they're not full convertibles.

Was thinking of maybe a lap belt for now placed in the middle or something. Have heard of something similar being done in the mk3/4 cabriolet that was all.

Hi Stu

Check on my web site in my signature and you'll find on my stock a Cabby with 3-point rear belts. You'll see from this that you'd not really get a third in the middle. I think you'd struggle to do something safe.

Also I'm not sure if the cabbys are registered on V5 as 4 or 5 seater cars? If 4-seater then you're risking a tug as you'd be driving illegally.

Sorry it's not great news but I really don't think it could be done. :(

Cheers
Andy

Don't know how old your children are but its hard to find a mk1 golf cabriolet with 3 point rear seat belts as UK VW's only fitted with lap belts. You can buy kits to fit 3 point belts but they ain't cheap, about £230 a side and the need some work to get them anchored down.

I have a solution to your problem!

Decide which two of the three kids you love the most.
Sell the third.
Put the money to the cash you've already got.
Then buy that cracking Cabby  Hairyarse has for sale.
Problem solved!  :$
