I'm the basic tool - I ensure I carry my Greenflag card with me though! ;0)

Tools are only as good as your knowledge - mine is minimal!

Y plate Mk1 GTI
65 plate 430d - newest addition
52 plate VW Bora - daily hack [255k]

standard vw tool kit, spare fuel pump & ecu relay, spare tci unit. wee multi tool, loop of jumper wire.

anything else in my book is pointless, if something breaks you need a full tool kit for, chances are you wont have the part required to fix it at the roadside anyway ;)

I have a old small canvas tool bag that I keep some tools in and sling in the boot of which ever Golf I'm going out in. Also have an old coat (for lying on or crawling under car), top up oil and water in boot.

The bag contains stuff like; selection of spanners, screw drivers, adjustable spanner, small cheapy socket set, jump leads, tow rope, , sharp knife, piers, wire cutters, gaffer tape and cable ties, wheel nut wrench.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

I only carry a flat blade screw driver wrapped in a cloth in my glove box to adjust the carb and the standard vw jack and tools in the boot  O_o
