4/5 door, door rubbers

Hi all,

I'm in the process of having my 1979 Mk1 4 door tin top restored. However, I've run into an issue, and I'm hoping that others may have experienced this too. Basically, I've contacted various classic parts specialists for golf, heritage etc, online and spoken to them, also been in contact with someone I know who works in the VW Parts department at Driftbridge, none of them stock or are able to get a hold of the door rubbers for a 4 door mk1, they are no longer manufactured, not available on back order and not stocked anywhere. I've been told that I need to source them somewhere else, possibly second hand.

My question is, if anyone has encountered this issue themselves with getting the rubber door seals on a 4 door, what have you done, are their seals that can be used from say another car perhaps from the same era that has very similar size and shaped doors at all? What have people done? I need help here lol.

Other than that, if anyone has some that they're willing to part ways with, that are in a good condition then let me know.

Hi, I got mine from classic-vw.co.uk, you can still buy the whole lot if you want to. 3 or 5 door. Also get club discount. Regards
