16vt or 20vt pros/cons? Can't decide what route to go down

Hi all,

So, I am looking to complete an engine conversion over winter for the Mk1 and currently have been looking at two options. The 16vt or the 20vt.

I am currently running a rebuilt KR engine on twin carbs and have been looking into turboing this motor or swap it out for a 20vt.

Currently investigating pros and cons of both. Primarily its cost involved, realiability and drivability.

Has anyone on here completed both conversions and can share their views on the engines chosen and why? Thanks in advance!

Don't really see the point of turboing an engine that was never built for it when the 20vt engines are so readily available.

i thought the KR block was very similar to the PG g60 block? av been looking at the 16v vrs the 20vt. 20vt is a cheaper route as its a complete package and mappable to around 250bhp with no mods as far as i can see. 16vt your looking at piston and conrods, intake, manifold, MS, the list goes on. or the cheap route for 16vt is a decompression plate but i have seen these go. theres quite a few threads kicking about with different builds.
