If i do my paint and refurb standard wheels next year i will give you a shout if im selling or let you know when it gets to the point i have to sell.

this has been about at various points over last few years, the leather interior and door panels are not the stanadard rivage cream leather ones, but it does look presentable and perhaps along the lines of what you are looking for

Rich checked the link, but for some reason i really don't like ebay for buying  cars, I hear some nightmare stories about people selling cars on ebay, always missing things out like cars had a total respray etc. so i kinda of stay away from there when buying cars.
I'm hoping to buy a car from this forum if possible as they are better looked after etc.

My brother has a used car garage so we have good contacts in regards to buying cars. But i won't find a sportline or a rivage coming through.

I only use ebay to find potential cars for sale mate, no different to looking on auto trader etc, then i ask them for a contact number, have a good chat about car, then go and view it if its sounding promising after chat, then do the deal, which can often be done outside of ebay for cash just like a private sale

If either of you are interested I have a Blue Rivage with leather and all the usual trim, huge pile of service history, every MOT engine and mechanics run like a Rolex but the paintwork is shot so does need a respray unless you aren't fussed about stone chips and laquer peel just about to start breaking it as I need it out of the way but its still in one piece for the moment.

£2000 no lower offers considered

(Rich knows the car so he will tell you are aint bull5hitting.)

As above, if you are willing to send the car into a paintshop or run as is, its a nice rivage, from memory interior is good for year and as waterworx has said just needs paint, so if you can paint or know a good bodyshop well priced you are quids in

pics of this i believe should also be in the bristol volksfest 2012 pictures in the show meet and reviews section

but for ease :-)

gary's sportline

No probs all. i think between Shughy, Chortle, Big Norm Rivage, massbad etc etc we know most of the sportlines of rivages about for sale :-) but there are always i am sure some minters parked and stored away, but its finding out where they are and at what price people will part with them :-)

Good luck all with your search

I called jayjay and we had a little chat about his car. Seems to be a nice example, from memory i think its had 10 owners and a bit of paint on the arches etc but only cosmetic work no rust. He sounds like a good lad and has done alot of work to the car, the only reason why i didn't go for it was because i want a sportline really and i'm trying my best to hold out for one, the mileage is right on this rivage and a realistic price IMO.
give him a call he's a sound lad

It's difficult finding a really good one.
These are older cars now, so you expect to find certain things that are wrong.

People with the leateher get rid of the beige carpet and replace it with another colour, or people have blue cloth interior and then get hold of beige seats or get the cloth ones retrimmed in leather and try and pass them off as Genuine.

It's all about budget and patience as to finding a good one to your spec.

It may be a trade off as to buying something that needs a bit of a tickle up compared to something that needs a lot of work.

Jay jays car looks origional but it's got the "Rivage" Decals missing. Not sure about the anti stone chip foils but I can get them for you.

Waterworx does need a blow over, but it looks ok when I saw it at Jellys house.

So I would get in the car and get round looking. Things allway's look different in the flesh. So you then know waht your looking at. Even if on E Bay, you can allways get the seller if it's in within the time allowance to pull the ad and do you a deal.

here is a tidy one.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/92-J-Mk1-Golf-Rivage-Cabriolet-1-8-GTI-Low-Mileage-Very-clean-and-original-/321003248061?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4abd48d9bd

this one has very little detail in the ad.
but it's a grand less, but then you gotta find some le castelete wheels, and those decals are horrific and non genuine either, so theres your choices.

cheers

this one on Piston heads

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/golf-gti-mk3-mk4/volkswagen-golf-gti-rivage-1992/815192

but your gonna need to spend over a grand to re trim the interior back to OEM spec.

As we probably all do, sometimes I think of selling mine and then buying either a project mk1 or another old VAG.

There is a mk2 Rallye near me that's for sale that is cracking but then I think of the hours I have put into my Sportline and the things I still want to do to it and then how much it owes me and how much I enjoy driving it and its reliability and I just go out to the garage and give it a wee check over and my thoughts of selling go away again :-)
