mk1 & mk2 cylinder

Hey guys, just wondering is the mk1 and mk2 gti cylinder heads the same? I have a mk2 gti 8v digi head? I am wondering because i want to get a supersprint manifold, just wondering if i can just buy a mk1 supersprint manifold? As i dont know if the mk2 manifold would come down to the same position to fit the downpipe too? if this makes any sense ha

Yes' more or less the same depending on year,   you'll have some mk2 8v heads that will only accommodate its own intake manifold, they differ shape & design intake ports to that of the Mk1 8v … ONLY DIFFERENCES   

So basically the exhaust manifold is the same pretty much but the intake can be different? Its a 1991 digi head?

all mk1/2 1.8 gti heads are basically the same externally, some kjet heads have an extra vacuum port between ports 3 and 4 but that can be capped off if you dont/cant use it.

So yes MK1 manifolds all fit fine

you will have to use a mk1 exhaust manifold regardless as mk2 are totally different shape due to the hole in the tunnel beign in a different spot/height
