Few questions about a rebuild.

Morning all,
I have a piston ring giving up on life. I was going to rip the old engine out and swap it for the 2.0 16v but I've come to the conclusion it's more work than it's worth.

I'm considering rebuilding my engine completely but also boring it out. Has anyone else done this before, if so, has anyone got any tips or suggestions?
I don't know what the outcome would be ie, power output, reliability, mpg etc.

Any help/input welcome :)

If I remember correctly over boring will be a little less than 1900 cc, I much prefer to fit the 2.0 ltr engine, either 8 or 16 valve.

Well I was talked out of putting the 2.0 in.
Which is easier the 8v or 16?

Well I suppose 8v is easier, and assuming you have working k-jet you can use that so fueling/ ecu taken care of and its basically a simple bolt in swap, just exhaust downpipe issues and dizzy mounting conversion parts required.
