HELP!!
Hello, so my golf mk1 gti 1.6 1982 is having a problem at the moement. So sometimes I'm driving along and then it kangaroos like it's going to stall. And then some times in idle it cuts out. And then won't start up for about 10 minutes. Can anyone tell me what it could be?
Coil? HT leads? Fuel? Or something along them lines?
Many thanks

Hello Mr.Bassist,
How old are the HT leads, spark plugs, dissy cap, rotor arm, fuel filter and air filter?
Has this just started to happen, any grumbles before?
Have a look at the fuel filler neck for holes and inside the fuel tank as the fuel pick up may be blocked.

Hey, I'm not sure how old they are I've only had the car for a year so not sure if they have been replaced, but the HT leads look fairly new. I'm just a newbie to all mechanics and don't wanna do anything wrong.mark1gls said

It does sound like a fuelling issue, have you checked the fuel filler neck, shine a torch down it and look for any rusty holes or rust spots, they usually rust away at the top as that is where the mud sits.
I would also give it a major service if you don't know how old the ignition side of things are, they don't last forever.
Do you know when the cambelt was last done?
