1.8 gti overheating

Hi All,

my cars temp went beyond half way yesterday, i opened the bonnet and noticed the fan hadn't switched on, also the bottom rad pipe was cool. I had just drained and topped up the coolant that day.

Could this be a simple air lock prob?
