Not starting after a run.

Post

Was out for a run in my clipper cabby today. Stopped in at my mates, then 5 minutes later, went to start the car & nothing. Wouldn't even turn over. It's an auto & I had a problem like this before which was down to the switch that has to read its in park or neutral to start. Tried cleaning it but still nothing. Stood about trying it every now & then but it still wouldn't start. Eventually about an hour later, I tried it again & hey presto, it started. It was as if it had to cool down. A guy I know passed by & said he had a similar problem with a sensor in his car & got it linked out. Anyone with any ideas what he's talking about or what might cure it. Don't fancy having to wait an hour every time I go out a run. It was (unusually) a really warm day today & the electric fan was on quite a bit, don't know if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hot start issue is down to heating up of the startermotor it's close to exhaust manifold so it gets hot and breaks down.
I replaced my starter motor in my auto cabby and it's never failed to start. There was a recall by VW years ago and there us a hot start relay fix to be applied.
I need to be in my keep top to get the details up. But google heat soak issues etc.

as above really, if it happens again try putting the car in 3rd and rockign it then try again. this got our polo going when it started doing the same thing, till eventually i replaced the starter motor which solved it for good
