Huge mistake

Hi i am not a mechanic
but i did some stuff that i should have..

my golf has 1.6 carby (aus)
solex 34 pict 5

and i turned the air fuel mixture screw…

there are 2 screws. One is for fuel and one is for air i guess

not im not sure which place is proper..


it could be rich or lean right?

can you guys tell me how i can set it properly without co devices?

Just feeling? Engine sounds and checking the emmison from muffler?

a basic check is to look at your spark plugs, black and sooty is rich mixture, whiteish means a bit weak.
