Engine removal / re-fit

Hi all,

Might be a crazy thought, but those crazy thoughts, turn into crazy happenings! This one with clear intension of 'cleaning!'

In a nutshell, remove engine - clean clean clean and then re-fit! (That's the plan?!). Sound easy on paper ey!

Is this relatively straight forward, bear in mind I have nothing to start this epic task. I just want to get a feel for what I might be thinking of doing and would like your thoughts and advice on this.

I understand that I will need a hoist of some form and many tools. Is this something that can be achieved on the driveway. What sort of time would removal take and is there a lot of post fitting work to consider?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Maybe someone has done this before and may be able to share their experiences. I can't seem to find a thread or anything in the 'how to' sections.

Cheers everyone,

Andy

It's straight forward to remove and refit the engine if you have the right tools and a hoist, it can be taken out and put back in the same day if you start early and know what you are doing. There is only 6 bolts holding it in, it's just disconnecting everything else that takes the time, water hoses, electrics, fuel hoses, gear linkages and drive shafts.
Why not clean it while it's in the car, it's a lot easier and cheaper because of all the tools you would need if you have nothing?
