Crazy Quiffs
Why were the only person selling Golf parts at the show 'Crazyquiffs'?
The stock they had on display/for sale was well overpriced, eg side trim butterfly clips @ 58p each when they are available elsewhere for 9p, damaged and broken mk1 clocks for ?40 and generally boxes of "rubbish" for rediculous prices, nothing at all was reasonably priced which does stink of a monopoly, totally dissapointed with what was available.

sorry you feel that way
Are you comparing CQ's prices ot pepel breaking cars and selling parts themselves on ebay and the liek, or ar eyou comparing his prices to other companies?
Crazyquiffs is a business and we have hads lots of good feedback both about his knowledge and the parts. But it is a business
To answer your question, why was he the only one there..
Well he was th eonly one that took up the invite to have a stand
As Funk Star said above, Cabbyshack coudl have had a stall, but Mark decided to enjoy the weekend instead, Big Boys Toys were on the verge of having a stand, but following lots of questions on their advertising thread about the way they operate, made them question their commitment to the club - I had to work hard to keep things sweet and maintain their discoutn structure etc, but as they are setting up a new venture within the MK1 and MK2 sector, they didnt have the budget to put on a stall
I also invited various other MK1 specialists and breakers plus lots of other traders including Just Mats, Volksbits, euro car parts, GSF etc etc etc - I also put up a thread up in here aksing for people to speak to their local traders and also asked for anyone who wanted an autojumble stand to come forward
Even tho all these pitches were offered FOC to traders/autojumble, no one took us up on the offer - we cant force these people to attend
Now people see the size of the club and show and understand how its growing forward, especially with the attendance at the show, we might get more traders coming forward next year.
Volksdepot, meguiars, Golf Plus and Jacksons Camping all took up the offer as well as CQ's
Hope that helps

Couple of points
(1) Have you tried the 9p versions ? We did on the Wifes cabby, very disappointed as they were weak and we ended up buying the more expensive versions.
(2) You do not have to spend your money with CrazyQuiff - it is your choice.
Giving the one trader who has dedicated his business to supporting the cars that we love such a harsh post in my opinion is pretty low.
I use Crazy for some parts and other traders for other parts, that is my choice. But when the going gets tough you can rely on him to get an obscure part for you - and if not he goes out and starts making them again !!
Just my two penneth !!

A very good point. He has and is doing big things for the mk1 crowd in respect to making obsolite parts availble and in new condition.
For instance he is as far as i know the only person who can provide new grill trims. Both chrome and red.
He has also put a lot of work into developing a cheap PAS unit that no one else is doing. Even if they do it wont be half as cheap.
The bottom line is that if you think the parts arent worth buying then dont buy them.
Another point to make is that sellers off eBay dont have an obligation to accept returns or provide you with a decent customer service. CQ has a reputaton to uphold so i can garentee that he will do all in his power to make you a satisfied customer as im quite sure the majoraty of his advertising is done through word of mouth.

OK, all points well made, but for clarification, I am not having a pop at CQ for being the only one there, so a low blow suggestion is refuted, my critisism with CQ was that some of the junk they were selling was well over reasonable, a set of cracked lens clocks with the speedo needle broken off for ?40?! come on!! old grille badges for a tenner..?!
Point taken, if its too much don't buy it.. fair comment but please get my point, the banner at the top of the page which advertised the annual gathering stated 'trade stands' which is the reason I made the 150 mile round trip and then find only one stall.. see my point?
I am sure CQ do a great job for the MK1 owners, I've never used them but more than likely will in the future
I have only attended one MK1 meeting b4 this one which was at Shrewsbury, superb spread, took all day to rummage through the junk there, got a set of clocks for a fiver along with a barrow load of other junk, wrong clocks as it turned out but thats because I am stupid but hey ho, great day out..
Only shows I have attended b4 this is the air cooled which are generally packed with more stalls than you can shake a stick at!
Thought the Coombe Abbey show was a good location but poorly suported by the trade but I would not criticise the organisers for trying as Lawsy has made clear, the word will need to be spread by mouth next year.
Great effort by all involved, if another set of paws is needed in future I would love to volunteer my services.
Thanks for reading and hope I cleared my point up…. :?
