Cabrio roof mech lubricant

What is the suggested lubricant for the hinges on my roof mechanism, I am slowly going through my new toy and think it might be a good idea to give the hinges a touch of slippyness in time for the red hot summer we get in the NorthWest (or maybe stop them rusting in the normal summer we get up here in the NorthWest). Cheers.

3 in 1 oil is what I used, the drip stuff not spray oil as it's easier to control the liquid.

Many thanks, I have some in the garage,  for interior work I tend to put a small amount in a small pot or aerosol lid and apply with a cheap artists paintbrush so I don't drip, spray, or spill everywhere.
