The Money Pit - '58 Splitty Panel Van project

Having done a few aircooled projects over the last few years, this is our latest project, a '58 Splitscreen panel van.
It was imported from Huntington Beach , California in Dec 2006 and we purchased it in Jan 2007.
The splitty is an old rubbish cart and was owned by GI Rubbish Co and sat on the harbour at Huntington Marina for 10 years after an engine fire.
It's definately a labour of love, we wouldn't have been able to do it if my husbnd wasn't a welder.
Now into our 5th and hopefully final year of the resto, we are finally prepping for paint.
We have done all the bodywork/chassis ourselves, my dad is rebuilding the engine.
Chris Lyons of Trimming Tonic has done the interior.

Unfortunately it's not going to be ready to camp in for the AGM. :(

Some pics of the progress-

very nice, but i thought the idea of importing one from the states was to get a rust free one
and save yourself a load of work.

Yeah, but this only cost £2000 including import costs! Well worth the effort I think.
