please help on engine types. for a mk4 1.8t

hi all i have had a bit of input from some of you on here regarding mk4 golfs 1.8t. and that the best engine is a AGU.

i went to look at one today, and i asked him the question about the engine type, and i was told the engine was an AUZ or something like that , he advised that it was the same bottom as the AGU but with an upgraded ECU. can anyone shed some light on this for me please. is this engine typre a yes or a no.

this particular one had done 120,000 and FSH, with a few mods. and was a "W" reg
