BMX lovers, this way!!!

Well, some of you may recall I posted up a couple of pics of a 16" wheeled BMX that I lovingly restored for my Son recently?

Well, that led me to want one of my own!

I ended up buying a NOS un-branded Full Cr-Mo, mid-school freestyle frame on ebay, for the grand sum of £19.99 Delivered!
After that, the parts just kept on arriving, much to my wifes annoyance!

Some of the Spec:
Full Cr-mo frame
Cr-mo 3-piece crank
Old School style MX levers (not originals)
Fishbone X-UFO gyro
Gusset alloy chainwheel
Some nice NOS old school Alliance Radix hubs laced to alloy Alex rims of some sort
Home made sticker set using Inkjet Vinyl(Frame shape style very similar to a "Standard Shorty", so went with that!)

Only thing left is pedals (I borrowed the pair off my old MTB for the time being) and a set of Pegs…

I'll let the pics do the talking:

If your going old skool, then you need number plate!

Quality, I always wanted one for my bmx when I was a kid and never got one :(

LOL…

No - not a racer. I was always into the freestyle bikes.
This is going to be a rider. Just waiting for the pegs now and then I can go and start hurting myself!

Already got a flatland tutorial video

Yes - not too common I guess!

Most of those parts are available via Ebay, it is just shocking how much people will pay for them!
Finding an original frame that is not in need of re-chroming would be the tricky part.

To build that up with NOS or excellent used parts, you are looking at £400 to £500, easily.

Looking good (frame actually isnt a million miles off the look of a Standard Shorty!)

Let it be known twas I that invented the term "Mid-School" in the early days of VBMX.com :)

Cool thread!  :D

Got a few old & mid-school bikes myself! I started off building a copy of my favourite bike I owned bitd, an 85ish GT Pro Performer but didn't have a feel for it once built so moved it on. I always wanted a PK Ripper so then ended up with one of the anniversary looptail replicas in silver which I built up with modern bits. Still got that, plus a black looptail anniversary Ripper, Mongoose Cali f&f. Mid-school stuff I got a 2000ish Standard STA complete, similar age 2-HIP Soul f&f, a GT Performer 2000ish again. Late stuff is a Mongoose Rascal I ended up giving to my boy and a GT Compe. Got a few MTB's as well.

Most (not all!) of the bikes in the household.

Loving the bikes  :)

I've just built up an early 90's chrome dyno style effort for my son for Christmas, and a bargain build to be honest. He's five and a half but pretty tall for his age. Hope he likes it - and it fits…………. :(

Really enjoyed doing it so think it might be a mongoose Cali or Supergoose next for me if I can find a decent frame. Hmmmm, saying that I've a mk1, 2 and V6 4Mo that should get attention first!
