Yellow mk1 GTI Working Project

After buying my mk1 6 months ago off a mate. i am finding one thing wrong after another.
This is a picture i took the night i drove it home. the 1st thing you say to yourself is the wheels!. they stick out about 2cm from the aches. it past an MOT with them on but the speedo is about 10 mph out also been followed by cops twice but NOT pulled over yet. love the little 13" mini lites but it's alot of work just to make them sit right. So im shopping about for some 15" Lenso BSX Wheels.
 I have got shot of those stupid F1 style mirrors and perspex windows and now replaced them with some original windows and mechanism's from Sandburn salvage yard next to Coventry Ricoh arena . I got some flag mirrors off ebay to relpace the mirrors.

The engine bay looks like it has had a monkey on acid working on it for example, The vacuum advance had been disconected with a screw bodged in the end dangling near the cam belt which had no cover on it .

I have recently done alot of work under the bonnet so it runs smooth with a little help from a friend (cheers Gav). Got it running ALOT better now just need to attempt the injectors, Fuel lines and fuel pump next. Upon cleaning up the rocker cover and other parts of the engine bay we stumbled across on that the previous owner had put on a sports cam aswell… which was nice

The body work has a few issue's like a bit of tin worm on the sub frame. and a bit of rust behind where the front bumpers should be.

The plan with the golf is to restore it to its former glory. it's got a long way to go yet but i brought it to learn on and what better than a 1983 Golf GTI

Got to say mate I saw this on the AGM pics and instantly made me smile… it's squat, loud (yellow) and proud… love it's stance!!!  Definitely unique and I like it.

I want a modded as well as my standard one… want it sooner now I've seen yours… thanks very much lol  :roll: …
