Wesley's 2.0l 9a 16v project using kr and isv

Hello  :D

After having my 83 mk1 for 5 years now i have decided
to make a few changes,
1st is replacing the 1.8 8v DX Engine
for a 16v 2.0l 9a using kr injection and isv (if i can)

The car

Got a full 16v kr engine

Got this at a great price and it included the loom ecu & gearbox,
i will use the gearbox, loom, injection system, cams, air flow metre and maybe the head

and a 2.0l 9a from a corrado

also got a scirocco inlet manifold 42mm.
pipe from inlet manifold to airbox
and 16v scirocco injector hose's

This is a picture of the original 1.8 8v DX Engine
i'll be able to use the airbox from this engine and leave it in the same place,
just take off the dx mitering head and bolt on the kr one,
this is the reason i'm using the scirocco inlet manifold, to keep everything
much the same as original

got the engine out over the last week

Also got the 8v engine loom out

This will probably be going back in
just want to re wrap the loom

Got some bits ordered aswell
Mainly gaskets
and the steel coolant pipe thats mounted on the engine
also
need to get 100mm drive shafts (i know i can change the flanges over from the 8v box to the 16v box
but if i can get 100mm shafts handy then all the better)
to suit the 16v box that i have.

i need to get the 16v mk2 loom in and wired up to the mk1 fuse box
i also want to use the isv.
i've tried everywhere including germany for a scirocco 16v kr loom
as it would connect straight into the mk1 fuse box
but cant seem to find one
apparently the kr was very rare in germany to as they
mainly had a pl engine which had knock sensors, lambda sensor and catalytic converter etc

is there a loom that can be got somewhere that has been changed already?
Thanks

Dont know if it helps but i once bought a loom from tsr that connected all the items under the bonnet, made for a simple wire up, but it didnt include the isv which comes with its own little loom if i remember correctly.

I like the sounds of that
i see this loom on ebay but the chap selling it doesn seem to know much about what
the loom will cater for  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-MK1-GOLF-CONVERSION-LOOM-FIT-MK2-3-4-16V-ENGINE-/330538945500?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf5a80bdc

do tsr still sell this loom?
and does anyone know if it will do all
of what i need?
Thanks

Just looked at that, tsr loom is very similiar, connects ecu (i know its not a proper one) and tci ? on the b/head to the dizzy, coil , one of the senders and an earth or two as far as i can remember. wasnt cheap though, but it did the job nicely.

that loom on flea bay is what you need along with the 8v one you pulled out, the one you pulled out does all the sensors and stuff like that and then you add that bit off ebay to control ecu dizzy spark etc

Looks like that loom is gone now,
but i've found a tsr loom here for sale near home at €50
so happy days, probably be a week before i have it  :P

hi mate, if you check my build thread i have already done the ronin steering conversion it works great, plus i did the extra work and fitted it with rod change box instead cable, also as for wiring if you can find a mk2 golf 16v pre 90 the engine looms plugs straight in, well so i have been told anyway lol, i have one coming tomorrow and i know the plugs are the same fusebox end so keep an eye on my build thread and you will see how it goes :) also in my build thread in reply to your cleaning the rocker and inlets buy a polising kit :)  good luck with yours

Thanks Matt,
I'll go have a look at your build thread,

Did you use the mk1 oil cooler or the 16v 9a one?
i want to use the 9a one but just want to see what other people are using

ain't they all the same lol ?? i got that many engines stripped down (2 kr's for sale in forsale section) i  dunno what bits have come of what, i would have to assume that because i sold the dx complete i have used a kr one :S gets very confusing when you have a garage full of bits
