vr6 swap help?

hey guys im doing a 98' 2.8l vr6 swap into my 84' rabbit gti. and im kinda troubled on some things. like if i should leave the subframe (k frame) the same length so my cars wider in the front or if the control arms i wanna call them will fit in the subframe (k frame) if anyone has any info on this swap please let me know. very much appricated.
