Hey people new on here, i am from the uk but currently living in stockholm sweden.. something to do in my spare time out here, thought i would buy a project and when i found this i coud'nt turn it down..








only paid ?200 for it been sat a while runs and drives time to restore.. :D

looks like it's all there, is it a GTI? I've not seen that colour before, a good scrub would work wonders though :lol:

yeh shell is solid, wants the front panel sanding down and check for rot, and the whole thing needs cleaning first, got loads of plans for this little beast

That looks a very good prospect mate, get it cleaned stick some rims on and its a very presentable mk1

yeh will get some pictures of it when its clean and with out silly stuff on it eg.. window tints etc..

jobs done so far..

painted the rocker cover cos it looked a state.

re-located battery to the boot

ripped all of the s**t wiring that someone has tried to do, put it back to standard

ripped the alarm and crap out.

replaced the handbrake cables

cleaned and adjusted rear brakes

found 2 holes that needed welding so prepared them for welding

replace back 2 brake pipes

bought all 4 flexi hoses to replace,

replacing the hole brake lines and running them through the car

found it needed 2 front springs (lowering it anyway)

same with the fuel lines run them through the car

bought a o/s/f cv boot

n/s/f track rod end

going to underbody shulzts it all

and cut off the exhaust system that was just hanging

bought all new mounts

bought all new wheel nuts

new brake disc and pads



quite a long list and i am still not finished.. will load some pictures up tomorrow what a differance some cleaning and some time doing little jobs.. :lol:

hahaha so funny what do you mean come back!!!!!!! i moved out here for a reason..

i will be driving it back to england this summer but it wont be staying


as for the headlight washers they will be coming off.. trying to put less and less on it making it real old skool

Nice project.  I'm moving out to Uppsala next month for two years.  Will be bringing a MK1 with me once I get garage space sorted.  Have to chat to you later about best places to get parts, local clubs, etc.  Good luck with it, Mat.

i fly over and stayed out here for 5 days sorted a job and interview came back to england for a month to sort stuff out, in that month sorted a place to live and etc, got money togeather and left simple as..
