Restoration update

Had the golf for a few weeks now and not done that much to be honest. Been really busy recently and not had much time to get stuck in.

What I have done so far

Removed rusty passengers wing and ordered new one from VW (GSF wings are not up to much so I sent it back)

Removed bonnet ready for filling and spraying

Removed bumpers and attacked the rust on the front of the car

Car is starting to take shape, as soon as I get the new wing / bonnet back on and painted she will be looking good.

Also purchased a cabriolet bumper for the back from eBay

What do you all think??

looking good mate. Just wondering how you stripped all the paint off the front panel?

With an electric sander and a wire brush. Also used some hamarite (rust treatment)  to get the rust off. it came off pretty easy.

After visiting the all types show yesterday and seeing all the stunning mk1's, I have made a decision as far as the styling of my car is concerned, i'm going Euro look! pressed plates no plastic arches and a chrome stripe. Who ever owned that light green euro look mk1 at the show, i'm so jealous!   Also bought some jag carpet and retimed my boot and got a nice round tail pipe back box for just ?10. Excellent show well worth going.

Next update!

Well it?s been a while since I posted anything on here. The golf is coming along nice, It?s going for a repay on the 11 of June! (Decided if your going do something may as well do it right)  here are a few more pics of the boot with new paint and carpet then the new back box and the new wings (not yet bolted in to position took me and a mate well over an hour to get the old wing off! ) I have never seen so much sealant in my life. No wonder VW?S don?t rust that much.

Just got the golf back, it?s had the front wings painted and the bonnet done. And considering the cost I think she looks pretty good. Sorry for pic quality it was taken on my mobile.
