Quick paint job for All types Bodelwyddan 2012 Now Finished!

The Ebay listing didn't mention the Pink pearl, and the pictures on Ebay made it look better than it was.




Pictures looked ok all was well until the drive home when it started to splutter and cut out after 5 mins, everything was checked over, it had a new fuel pump, relay and filter fitted which didn't stop the problem, turned out to be the filter in the fuel tank which was blocked due to it being in a garage since 2006.



first job was to remove those alloys and put on my old BBS wheels from my old Elvis GTI (ELV 216Y.)
fit a GTI front duckbill spoiler and windscreen spats
That was how it rolled for the first year with minor tweeks here and there thanks to Ebay. LOL



I visited the Tatton Park VW show in 2011 for its first outing on the club stand.



Due to the pink pearl paint I couldn't get it matched in when the paint started to bubble on the front wings.

So the only option was a repaint and tidy up in the original colour Alpine White.

So with new side trims, a grill, wheels refurbed, 2 new wings, a new boot lid, new rear plinth panel, smoked rear lights and a couple of litres of paint the work commenced…..

Still a work in progress should be ready for Bodelwyddan I'll keep updating on the progress.

although I'm not sure whether to use white or black wheelarches, as I'm keeping the bumpers black and not too sure?? :dontknow:

Todays job was G3 polish and mop, and its been a long day!!!

then ended up having to touch in some panels as the paint wasn't up to standard.

Got a lot done today considering I didn't get started till 6pm tonight, Chump now has front and back bumpers back on which I left in black, wheel arches arches back on in White although I'm still not sure whether to put the black ones back on??, smoked rear lights and fog light fitted, car polished over, side trims fitted, clear indicators fitted, front spoiler back on, rear plinth fitted and a few engine parts have had a lick of satin black to tidy them up…. I will add some pics tomorrow if I get chance, I'm now waiting for the new reg plates then i've got a few tidying up jobs and refit the BBS wheels before the weekend although I might wait till saturday night so they are clean for Bodelwyddan. Lets hope the weather improves for Sunday.

Also does anyone know the best way to remove G3 compound from the vinyl roof ??

LOL G3 is a bitch to get off! keep it wet, and most of it should wash off, or i found nead TFR to work well on seals etc, so should wourk on hood.

So far I've tried jet washing it, hot soapy water, panel wipe, thinners, and lots of elbow grease…  I think a gearbox is needed next as its starting to make noises, will a turbo diesel 1.9td box fit from an R reg vw/seat caddy and improve the acceleration?? as i've got one lying around in the shed. if so what fly wheel and clutch should i use.  heres some pics from this morning done more tidying up and put the refurbed BBS's back on now. looks a lot tidyer.


I'll put some pics up tomorrow of the finished item.

Still waiting for the reg plates to go on.

Also I was online and spotted my picture that i sent to passion restoration products last year of my original rear window sticker on the corrado website of Scotts of Sloane Square. I'm going to Keep the original faded version rather than getting a repro…

as i don't want a polished up show car I want a usable classic!!

Sorry I sold it but the money was needed at the time such a shame, the lad who bought it in 2010 lived down Exeter and travelled for 5 hours each way to collect it.

Memories….

Anyway Chump is finished but needs new seat covers!!! they are white and are ripped on the bolsters etc. found some nice ones on Ebay for £250.00. now what can I sell to buy them….. It was too dark after I finished checking the gearbox oil level tonight to take a decent photo so maybe tomorrow.

All done on the outside anyway, apart from needing a new front panel as its dented and the crossmember has seen better days,

Needs new seat covers next but I will need to get saving for leather or vinyl covers or originals if I can find a white interior….!!! just going to do some final tidying up and polishing and fit some new front pads for Bodelwyddan.

Is anyone travelling up from wirral on Sunday morning? I did have an invite and an offer of a swap for a mk4 golf for chump which I declined…he said i could follow down with the mk4 owners club would prefer to travel with the mk1 owners if any are going on Sunday.

the wheels look better but now the polished lip doesn't show up in photos as much as it used to with the black centres.


I'm not sure whether to lower it with springs and shocks or coilovers any ideas??

Very well transformed cars you got there.Some how never a fan of white cabs but yours I do like  8)
