pslots project gets started

hi guys, i brought my 88 cabby in november last year, got it on the road in december and now have taken it off the road to start the project, its going to be a work in progress but hopefully will be worth it in the end, this is what she looked like after i picked it up and gave it a bloody good clean up

well i have started the interior but have stop that for now as of bigger plans, did this to start, far from finnished but mainly to a sliped disc in my back and the mk1 seat were to soft, plus i like the leather look

i picked this up a couple of weeks ago and am going to use it as a doner

right the ideal is to take the 1.9tdi engine from the vento and drop in the cabby, i will be trying to convert the hydro clutch and cable select as well, whilst doing the converstion i will probily rewire the whole car, finnish the interior and hope to repaint the body, plus what ever else i come across whilst doing so,

its going to be a slow tread as i have a prolapsed disc in my back and am waiting for an op but as soon as im better it will be full steam ahead, with lots of detail and loads of pics, and a couple of fancy mods too

wish me luck guys and ill keep you posted as im doing it, at the moment i just started to strip the vento,
ALL PARTS I DONT NEED ARE FOR SALE IF ANYONE WANTS ANY THING, WILL ALSO BE SALING THE 1.8 CARBED CLIPPER ENGINE TO WITH 94K ON IT SOON

only 2 tools needed, wd40 & ducktape, if its stuck,wd40. if it needs sticking, duck tape ;p

Looks a nice clean cabby from the pics :) It'll definately be worth the time and effort at the end of the project.

update

right finnished work today, got home and it was raining :banghead:
but managed to get a bit more done

front end was the first thing to go

removed the wings bumper lights, then the radiator and front panel

then started on the battery intercooler , cable select and wiring loom etc etc, making notes and marking up the plugs/wirers on the loom,

removed the downpipe to make way to get at the drive shafts

once all the wiring and stuff was disconected i then removed the bolts from the inner drive shafts, this saves losing the oil over the drive way, and striping the hubs out

removed the 3 engine mount top bolts and was almost out, it wouldnt bloody come out :dontknow:

then relised that i had not removed the hydro pipe to the clutch :redfaced:

wa la   jobs a good un, this only took just over 3 hours it was far to simple

well i was on a roll so did a bit inside too

well heres hoping for some better weather tomorrow

i got the rest of the under bonnet stuff out, including the front struts, hubs, driveshafts, ps rack etc
and managed to get all the inside of dash bits out to, pedle box wireloom and everything else i needed, all i have to do now is drop the rear axle " donar for a trailer me thinks" and get the tank out, the doors and tailgate are a 2 minute job

well thats all for now folks

right a little up date, havent had much time to spend on the mk1 with the birth of my little boy and still having a syuffed back, but i have started restoring the interior, i fitted the leather front seats due to my back being so bad and the recorros being so soft but am going back ome,

WELL 1 DOWN 3 MORE TO GO

I havnt been able to start the engine swop yet due to my back but i did strip the carb down and get it all working properly,as some of you may remember it only reved to 3k, also started tiding up the engine bay

before

and after

looks abit better, il try and get to the meet with her on friday

well i did get the mk3 vento front end fitted and painted

and i bought a new car wooo whoooo

started with the strip down and was thinking about getting ready for the respray but only got as far as taking the front bumper off :)

that bonnet needs painting so bad

going to remove the brick off the front bumper and smooth it off, oh i did do a little mod the other day, i fitted some side lights in to my clear indicators in my front bumper, dont know why i was just board and needed something to entertain my self fo 20 mins,

will hopefully start getting this project moving along soon
