project..urm uurrrmm... hanz moleman?

Ok…i boiught me a tired, flat, non running, leaky, squeeky sat on a farm for 2 years cabby last sat. Drove to london in a 7.5 ton recovery truck limited to 50 miles an hour (hardest part of the whole thing up to now iv noticed).

Got to a farm, gragged the cabby on the back. She has stood in the same place for 2 years…(looked like a set up…tere were actally chickens on the bonnet hmmm). 4 hours (yes four hours later) i was back in manchester and rolled her into my dads garage (on he promise that i will try and store the cabby at work or find a garage somewhere.

Original paintcode sticker in the boot..im smilin

Today started to strip her and investigate for rust (not a lot considering 2 years of leaky roof and stagnant waterinside). Usual filler neck toataly gone, tank full of rust, paint flat, pachy and rust holes on ever panel. The worst part (even minor) is at the windscreen base at the wipers..2 nasty holes,1 sill, filler neck, rear panel and various bits n obs (boor handles etc).

I managed to get the boot lid into work along with the badges and covertly paint them..(operation steal 2 ltrs of alipine white n the next week or two SHHHHH).

Pleasantly surprised..

OHHHHH and im struggling to remove the roof….is there a majical in way of doing it? Interior is stripped ready for the steam cleaner, next the exterior. (i think)

No idea on stripping the roof. Maybe the cabby roof fitting guide read in reverse will help?! :dontknow:

the roof can be straightforward to remove, i followed a haynes manual and did it fairly easily, but i have never re-fitte done..
there is a few little tricky bolts ot reach and the cable can be a pain to undo, but not that tricky, easier if 2 of you do it, because when its hanging on by one bolt that you've forgeottnt o tundo, holding it on your own is a nightmare.. (trust me on that one)

Good to see your saving it tho
