Project power house - Coilovers fitted

Well, after buying train tickets to go to bonny Scotland to get a Golf C. The guy decided to tell me the back windows been put through and its a write off….ye nice one.

So saw this on ED38, yes am aving that. Where a ya from I say…..Portsmouth!!! Christ! 560 mile round trip here I come. So off I went, my good freind kindly offered to tek me down, wish she didnt now

Drove the 1981 golf n 1.1 all the way back from Portsmouth to Yorkshire. Not a nice journey, the carbs dodgy as hell. Requires the choke been on for it to run and it doesnt like to idle, and front driver wheel bearing must be non existant, as it meks a rate racket. Then the aerial for the radio is duff, and the CD player wudnt play my copied CD's…nooooo! The only station I could get on the radio, probably the worst station ever……..classic FM. Must admit I'm up on some classic mozart now   8)

Things it needs

Wing and door
Rocker gasket
Aerial
Carb sorting
Wheel bearing

Other than that the car is actually pretty mint. The only rust is a tiny bit on the back panel near the tow eye, and a tiny bit on the back arch

It has only 2 owners from new, me been the 3rd. 65k miles. Every single MOT from new, every tax disc from new. Original bill of sale from new. Everything that it needed doing it went to a VW garage, and have about a thousand reciepts for this lol  Every single bit ya get when its new it has, booklets, owners handbook etc

Plans are to make it mint, wide ass wheels. Keeping it simple

Obviously worth having a good look at the base of it, when you remove the wing and door for repair/replacement though. From the pics, the sill looks straight.

Looks to me like the door's been blown/knocked all the way open so it's even contacted the front wing. :dontknow:

Looks very tidy other than that. :y:

Any interior pics? (just because I'm nosey)

What's the plans?

Yradave says relax.

No interior pics yet will try an get some tomoz

Just stripped engine bay out a bit, found the carb problem. Got a oil leak somewhere so cleaned engine down, nice, clean and dry now so gotta find where that leak is coming from. Think its either coming from the crank pulley or sump

The plans are

Wide ass wheels to get a mega stance
Painting the outside of the grill red
All red rear lights

Keeping it simple and clean really

Just need to source a genuine wing and a door

Aye its solid

Ave got a massive grin on me face now aswell. Theres a little VW auto place in my village like 5 min walk from mine. Thought I'd pop in and try if he got a passenger door. The only mk1 panel he has…..and its a passenger door. Thats absolute mint condition, no rust at all. ?50 he wants. Loving it!

sounds like your running problem with the carb is to do with the flange/gasket at the base of the carb just had to do this to mine (1.3) seems a lot better but realised inlet gasket needs replacing so gonna do that in bout an hour.
