Project Fes - 1982 Golf GLS 1.5

Hi all

Been browsing on here for a while now, so decided to post a picture of my current project, Fes    She was built in 1981, registered in 1982 in my home country of South Africa and is a local GLS specification with JB engine code 1.5 engine.  I don't have many pictures, but here is one of me driving her back from a local VOlkswagen Club of South Africa event taken by a friend…

Cheers
Nic

Thanks guys, it is really great to be back in a MkI Golf again :D   Slowly accumulating bits and pieces for her, but it is a little difficult at times being on the southern most tip of Africa…

…but I'll get there    At least she was largely complete and in great condition when I bought her…

Cheers
Nic

No real updates for now, still on the hunt for parts, mainly…

Brown Window Winders - I have two in good condition but the other two are wrecked.
Dashboard Ashtray Surround - I have th ashtray but the surround is cracked.
Lower B-Pillar Cover - Will get a photo up, it covers the lowermost part of the B-Pillar and the seatbelt mechanism.
Lower C-Pillar Cover - Will also get a photo up, it covers the area next to the rear seat below the top shock mount.

Here are pictures of the B and C Pillar covers I am looking for…

I realised I haven't been on here in a very long time, I have been busy with my '67 Variant but have done the following to my Golf to get her back up and running…

Stripped and painted axle, drums, drum backing plates and axle bush housing
New bearings, castle nut, split pin and dust cover
Stripped and cleaned stub axle
10mm Stub axle spacers with longer high tensile steel stub axle bolts
New wheel bearings
New slave cylinders
New brake shoes
Stripped and cleaned springs, all of the little bastards
Polyurethane axle and shock bushes
New brake fluid and full brake system bleed
Various bits of grease, lube, etc.

Next, I decided to give her a bit of a clean and get her side trim on which I had been hoarding in a cupboard, for years…

And then her driver side outer CV decided to commit suicide shortly after all the above mentioned work, so we stripped her front end and replaced the following…

Inner CV's
Outer CV's
Tie-rod ends
LCA Ball joints
LCA rear bushes
LCA front bushes

She looks really nice mate. Some nice pics. At least it looks like you are getting some sun. We have been knee deep in snow for about 3 weeks :(
