Pimpin our 81 gli Cabby

Seeing as the Cab is off the road for a couple of days due to a leaky injector fuel line, (got a full set + injectors coming tomorrow, thats another ?60 down the drain lol) we decided it would be a good idea to make the most of the sun and get a few bits of engine/bay painted.

Thanks to the previous owner doing the paint job on the cheap, the cam cover, cambelt cover, intake pipe and all of the feckin hoses were all covered in yellow overspray.  So We stripped off the metal bits, (and intake pipe,) and gave 'em a good degrease and a light sanding.

Then 3 coats of primer,

and then three coats of paint,

We also painted the oil cap and the bonnet prop.  I still cant believe that they were willing to spend time drilling the rivets to take the V.I.N plate off, but couldn't take 25 sec's to remove the damn prop!!!!!!! Ok so it was probably holding up the lid, but it only takes a couple of mins to take it off anyway!

Some people are just way too bastard tight!!

It should make it look much neater under the lid, so at shows we might not be embarrassed and actually have the bonnet open! pmsl!

Saturday looks to be a busy day, as em wants to have another go at fitting the central locking kit, (If anyone has done this before and fancies lending a hand I'm sure we can sort some beer/wine/food based payment?) plus i have to test 8 injectors and pick the best 4!!! Then connect it all back up, set the mixture and go for a quick spin.

Should be fun lol, out for 8am by the looks of it  :?
