operation rotbox is underway

after reading this forum many times i thought mm i could do that
 so off i go and buy myself a 1.6 1983 mk1 gti, 114k on the clock sweet engine which looks clean, and the previous owner had ripped out most of the interior and primed the outside it even has mint coilovers on it!!
now it comes to stripping back and under all the primer i have found an unbelievable amount of rot including the roof  :cry: which as you can see i have started chopping out(badly) all i need now is a wing and a prayer and of course a welder,
any advise will be gratefully accepted as i seriously don't know if this car is too far gone or not, i don't even know where to buy replacement parts so please help guys even if its just to give me a good slating











the bottom of the car is sound, but i feel very disheartened already

Ah thats definatly fixable mate not too much rot there really.
Theres loads of good places to look for parts like in the for sale
sections of this forum and others like e38 etc. Usually someone
will have what you need. There's a great list of mk1 parts
suppliers on this forum too. So you have no reason not to crack on

Give crazy quiff a ring for the parts you need,  he will most probaly have them.

Himate, a good start would be to join up as a members, just for a few of the benefits, 10% at GSF for one, plus loads more

As to parts the man to speak to is Rich @ crazyquiffs, link to left, very nice bloek with loads of info and he hasnt got the part then I'd be amazed!!

lawsy im located in surbiton surrey but the car is tucked away in a small town called englefield green, any welders reading this thread please come and rescue rotbox

Hi mate, i used to know a guy in surbiton, think he goes by name of indian on some forums, bloody good welder but that was a few years back now… Not really sure of any round englefield green (that is if you are reffering to the englefield green near virginia water) tho, my cousin lives that way so will ask if he knows anyone for you
