Newcomer requiring help and info please

Hi All,
Over the last 3 weeks i have purchased 3 mk1 gti cabrio. my intention is to get them back to factory standard and pristine. i am having difficulties in finding out what trim and wheels should be on what car. i have managed to decode the chassis numbers and some of the option codes but some are still eluding me. so, my first question relates to a mk1 gti cabrio 1984, it is white with white roof, white interior, white bumpers, white wing mirrors and white wheel spats. did the factory send them out like this? the bumpers, mirrors and wheel spats are painted, is this standard as it's starting to craze now and will need re-painting? can't find the option code c19, w67, 711 - tried on here and the other decode website but no joy. i believe this car is the campaign model only from what i have read, it has green tinted windows, sprung fuel cap and 'e' within the chassis number. Did they make a campaign cabriolet? i have plenty of spares but would like to make the car as original as possible - exactly as it left the factory ideally or with optional extras that would have been available at the time. i have the red grill trim, want to mount it but not sure if it's correct for the year. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sam welcome to the club, youre referring to the CC (stands for Christmas Cabriolet, not Coco Chanel - despite what the internet says!) Cabby by the sounds of it, it was a limited edition all white cabriolet sold in December '83 I think??

A great resource is www.cabby-info.com :)

You should find all the info you need there….. don't forget to update us with pics !!!

Campaign really just refers to a marketing campaign by VW to promote cars, it's a generic term.

84 is to early for the Christmas cabby.
More likely to be a all white model aka triple white model.

As Chortle said, it sounds like you have an 'All-White' edition. There's a copy of the original All-white edition dealer brochure here:

The brochure is dated Nov 1985.

Also the 'CC' had a purple/ blue roof, with CC embossed on it, just like the interior seats + door cards. At least mine did anyways.

Three versions of the CC were available.
There was lady charme with snowflakes, lady sunshine slightly different it had zandvort wheels and mr moon which was sapphire blue metallic paint with snowflakes.
Someone on here had a lovely mint Mr Moon. Would have snapped his hand off for it at the time.

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies, as a newcomer this site has been extremely helpful and friendly. This is a great source of information. I can now confirm from the brochure that it is definitely the all white golf gti convertible. I am now starting out on my research of my all black 85 gti montego paint. Any help on this would be much appreciated. The white one is on the road, just cosmetic to do, black one i'm in for the long-haul - lots of big jobs.

Kind regards,
Samantha
