That looks a tidy motor, I like the look of the wheels, suit the car well.

Engine wise I would stick with VAG all the way, my bro had a 280bhp 1.8T mk2 plenty of power and it keeps it looking original, I am not a fan of bike engines (unless in bikes) or any engines not VAG.

But its your car mate, will be interesting to see how it develops.

Shame! I would try and find it if you can! But if not, it might be the same type as Cabriolet ones. A lot of the thicker strips like yours had chrome in aswell, but there might have been a lot without the chrome. Get a wanted ad up - I would put 'thick plain black side strips' to leave it open to Driver and Cabby ones!

on the quest for engine ideas…

1.3 gt engine or a 1.8 lump or try with the standard 1.3  :?

get a super charger or a polo g40 engine, that way you get same tax band and insrance won't be as bad as a 1.8, and also i'm not sure if there would be much mods to do if you kept to the 1.3 block and charger.
my mate's got a g40 polo and that go's like stink!

here for a good time, not a long time

Whatever one you choose always worth looking round at insurance quotes first.

1.4 16v out of a polo is a good swap
