My Restro Project
Well with not knowing much about mk1's at the time i went out and bought what i thought was a mk1 in pretty decent condition. Well took the rear arch covers off and found a little bit of rot, which when i took to the garage to get a quote turned out to be lots of rust, the chassis leg was rotten, lots of old patches, not good news. the guys there said for the amount of money it would take to fix it would be cheaper just to get a new shell and transfer the parts across so thats what i'm doing.
here she is
maybe should have looked around for one in better condition but this one will give me a chance to get my hands dirty and get to know th car really well,
some of the bad bits.
the previous owner tried to get the wheel well out and re position the steering column
some more rust
All in all got my work cut out.
having no previous welding experience before, i enlisted one of my friends who has kindly fixed up the structural bits underneath, now i just have to finish it.
