my project golf

right, i have had this since 2006, the intention was to get her sprayed with a bit of an aircooled theme (being as im an aircooled man at heart!) with a stockish engine. that all went to pot when my mate gave up on his project and sold me his 1.8 20vt engine! well its been 4 years and progress has been rather slow to say the least!! (i work away for long stretches at a time though, thats my excuse!!)

when i picked it up







when i finally got round to getting it to my mates for spraying, this is what she found, a lot of old paint and distortion which she put right

it was then straight round to newton commercials for a headliner (they are in the town i went to school in, nice and local, lovely!)







and thats how it pretty much sat for a long time! i finally decided to get a friend of mine to do some work on it while i had a holiday at the end of 08, he put the glass in, coilovers on plus lots of other jobs





not too much has changed since as i had a very bad year last year for a few reasons, but i have now gone into a workshop with my mate who i brought the engine off, i have the gearbox and clutch, and he is up for doing some work while i go away again this year, my motivation is very high again, and i hope his is too! (sorry about the last pics, ill get some better ones when i get home in a week or so



and as soon as i buy some 15 inch wheels i can get these fitted!!

cheers foxy! well not much of an update, i need to pull my finger out but had a bit of a lack of work so a lack of cash to get bits and carry on! got a doner sunroof though, and have swapped all the bits over, just need to fit it and not scratch the paint! and the extra headlining newtons left for me when they did the headliner seems to have disappeared :evil: so looks like ill have to get them to trim it so little more expense (damn cars!) but works picking up so should be able to order quite a few bits and bobs soon and ask my mate nicely to fit some while im away :wink:

well a little update, im now away with work again until mid october, but before i went away i popped into newton commercial and got a carpet set bonnet felt and underlay all ordered up, its apparently now ready and has been collected so hopefully my mate will put that lot in for me! i also dropped off interior panels and seats to be retrimmed by a guy near lowestoft, he trimmed the interior of my campervan and did a great job, so they will be started on in september, im not going to say what he is doing just yet though!





amazing how much room is in a mk1 fiesta!!!
