This is whats left of my GTI. A tourist cut me off. Insurance wrote it off and wouldn't let me buy it back.
They also said it would go to the crusher. Daaamn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So above pic's
is my new MK1

I like the white one  :cry: … looks super clean too …. glad you got another one… you must be a proper mk1 nut like myself… I'd be out the next day looking for another mk1 is someone wrote mine off.  I take it you walked away ok from the accident?

The insurance people (government) have some new rule about older cars.
They go to the crusher if their over a curtain age!

i suppose thats the main thing at the end of the day.. although i'd be bloody gutted if that had happened to me..

but now im gonna be a bit wary if the government gets rid of older cars

If the insuranc said that to me I would have gone crazy should have argued alot more end of the day that's your car which you put your pride into !!!

I rebuilt my new Mk1, It idles but I have no power(SPIT AND SPUTTER)until 3500 and then it goes……
It has….
G grind cam
ported, polished & shaved head
Audi 5000 throttle body
long tube header
and a lightened fly wheel
any Idea's?

Hi u need to set the mixture contol on the air box and recheck your distrubitor timming. Also have you tested the compression on the cylinders

I have 175 psi on all four
I've played around with the mixture and timing

Hi check you distrubitor if is a contact are ok with the right gap and not burned I one the cam on my dissy wear out causing low dwell and bad running. if it us the more newer hall effect type the don't worrie about that but the timmin of the dissy has to be done with a timing light. Also check for vacume leaks

Well I broke down at took it to a mechanic. I tried everything I could think of and the suggestions given.
Hope it doesn't cost to much!!

Just wondering is this mod (jetta with golf front clip) get done often in the U.K?
Some people on VWvortex think it doesn't belong on a Jetta!
