My MK1

This is my MK1, bought it about 18 months ago, currently sitting in the garage SORN, looking forward to the summer when she will come out again, only driven on dry weekend days!

I Looked for nearly a year for the right MK1, had to be relatively original (no beestring, debadged type stuff) had to be mint and not green or tornado pink as not to keen on these colours.

The car was in Newcastle which is a little journey from Southampton but had a gut feeling! This was SORN and garaged between 1997 and 2007 then found and put back on the road by the last owner.

Only a couple of subtle MODs, MK3 2L tall block, polished head and schrick cam, a subtle suspension drop (around 30mm), sports exhaust and of course my favorite which is the Zender Turbos.

Plans for the future are a set of Coilies, current suspension is a bit bouncy, Jetex exhaust (im getting too old for the motorway boom!) and change the plates for some standard uk style pressed metal ones and thats it! Been down the heavy mod route before and want to keep it relatively original this time round. Comments good and bad are welcome!

Ooooh that's nice. I was possibly watching this on ebay back then but didn't have funds at the time. Ended up getting mine from Southampton last September. As much as I love it in lhasa green the white ones do look awesome - especially with the zenders  8)

It was on the bay so probably the same car, fortunately I had the cash sitting on one side from the sale of my G40 at the time.

The previous owner did a bit of research and decided to randomly write to the address of the first owner which he found in the service history. He still lived at the same address and sent back these photos of the car when he owned it, don't have an exact date of the photos but going on the bird with the dodgy perm and high heals I would say its mid to late 80s! Loving the all white Zender bodykit and GTI rear panel, so 80s!
