My MK1 Golf

I am quite new to MK1 Golfs however have always wanted one since I could drive but never the right time, however last year was. I first purchased a Black MK1 Golf but had always had my eye on Dub76's Golf though could not afford it. Then a similar one came up at a cheaper price so I took the plunge and not knowing much about cars bought it without an engine in or MOT.

Some of you may know the car as Muska's MK1. The car had been bought off him and stored for a year. These are pics he took:

Well it is was clear the car needed some love put back into it however coz I loved the colour and the car said yes on the spot to get it ready for MOT.

Well the engine was put back in - A G40 which sounds fantastic and is rather loud!!

Then took the car to Rob at TUK to help get it in ship shape condition and give her a respray . Both laughed as I realised how much rust was on the bugger.

Nice pic before the strip down:

The car then got stripped:

and I then saw what the rust was like:

A few things have been stripped back further and a few pieces have been fixed but still lots to do:

Rob has also nicknamed the car Treegreen as it had about 16 layers of paint on the back panel. That has been taken back now:

So am in the process of buying panels and bits and pieces to get the car looking loved and cared for again.

There are more pics here if anyone fancies taking a look

Will keep you updated. Also a big thank you to Rob for helping me out in finding the right parts and stuff.

I hope mine isn't this bad when i fully strip down for a respray.  Don't have quality bodyshops around here.  Looks a good profject for you though.

The car was not on top form when I bought it and you could see some rust bubbling through to be honest so always knew that potential problems lay underneath  - just did not know how much.

I believe the Blue Golf is Xpea's.

jees you would have never have guessed the rust under there.

you're doing it right though - only way to build them properly is to strip the right back

looking forward to seeing this progress
