my mandarin orange mk1! project low and unbelievably slow!

Hi guys! I'm Mike, im new to the forum but have been into the VW scene for three years now. I've always owned polo's (2 mk3 GT's and a 6n also a mk2 coupe!) but now i have finally taken the plunge and done what i have always wanted to and bought a mk1 golf! -full glass out respray
-Engine re-build, new valves, stem seals, guides, cambelt, headgasket, thermostat, radiator, new rear suspension

its a series one so has the different seatbelts, small lights, the S1 dash and clocks



plans are to get it low and some nice wheels for now then see what happens

cheers guys! ill post some more pics as soon as i can, its not running atm as its got fueling problems the fuel seems to have gone manky (not been on the road in 20 years!) so its clogged up the fuel filter, just replaced the fuel filter and still nothing so next method of attack is fuel tank to find the blockage

thanks jelly belly, it wont be staying standard ive sourced some nice wheels for it just needs to be severely beaten with the lowering stick haha

Mandarin orange - what a great colour and a lovely mk1 you lucky chap !  Some nice detail pics there - more please. Like Allana says, keep it standard.

updates - pissed off with it lol right where to start…..

- tried to take the fuel tank off then realised id need to take off the rear beam so tried to work away around it without having to take it off.

- took the sender out it turned out to be nice and orange!





-so after an hour of cleaning that up and unblocking the pipes i thought hey presto! job done!

-then we got to the rubber pipe joint from the tank to the filler neck is perished so i need i new one.

- oh and now the fuel lines are air locked so i need to drag the fuel through

thanks mate just ordered a new tank from BBT as the one on it ATM is pretty rotten so i'd rather just do it all once and know its done properly! as soon as thats all fitted i need to start saving for coilies! hopefully i will get to all types this weekend but its very doubtful its a shame too because ive orginised my local club (www.cheshiredubs.co.uk) to get in the show

right just bought some cbr 600 bike carbs these will be going onto an ABD engine which i will be fitting over the winter period (car will be coming off the road in winter to avoid the salt!) basic idea being i want something a little bit newer. ive heard some horror stories about the oil sprayers blocking etc haha so plans for 2011 are….

-fix fueling
-coilies
-wheels
-general interior clean (smells abit haha)
