my first mk1 tintop

hello my name is aaron, im from south london/surrey and have just got my first mk1 tintop gti.

it has tax and mot til mid this year, she runs realy well and gets lost of attention

i have had her a month or so and now i have sourced a few much need parts ie drivers door, p/shelf supports and an original p/shelf, i can know take her to the body shop to have a rear valance welded on and resprayed.

heres a fe pics of how it looks now

i think i will keep the coulour scheme the same but change the shade of silver

what do you guys and girls think??

also what size wheels do most prefer, i love the look of 13's but i think 14-15's would be better for alround drivability, any ideas???

Wheels are defo a a personal thing so as long as you like them thats all that counts, are you going to do
any of the work yourself and when do you hope to have it ready.

im a sprayer by trade but i would just never get the time plus i dont spray cars i do the spray work for a joinery company, i was going to rub it down and remove the glass but it would get done quicker in the body shop and the price i was quoted included removal and refitting so it makes sence to do it that way.

i hope to get her in there in the next couple of weeks, just need to decide on a shade/colour

any pics of silver mk1's would be great

i think im gonna go for some 13's maybe classic ATS or superlites, if i do put it on 13's will i have to have the arches rolled???

im also toying with the idea of fitting bike carbs or twin 40's-45's, any info ie..pro's - con's on these

cheers

14" or 15" wheels for ground clearance and general driveability in my book..

looks a great starting point, silver ones look cracking!!

Are you going for the 'most different sets of wheels fitted to a single car' trophy 8O

7 sets in the pics above :D my favourites being the allycats and the compomotives 8)

Looking good all the same though

i realy like the rat look but i get the funniest looks round here, i dont think people understand "its supposed to look like this" lol..

plans are to get it resprayed, then as soon as i get a chance i want the lump out repaint it and poss fit twin webbers. im not into the boy racer look so it will be kept very low and wide no bodykits or noen lights lol… the engine runs sweet so im gonna leave it as is for now.

this is all temp, once i have saved the dough i will put it in for a full body respray cos im only getting it sprayed on the ouside and inside and not not the bay in silver on matish rates, i realy want it a cool olskool colour, cornflower yellow or a very light green. wheels will be black whatever colour the car

one more thing, i was thinking of painting the bay a different colour from the body, what do you's think, any idea's???

If it is running k-jet sweetly then i would leave it alone, going to carbs will give you crap fuel consumption, and possibly less power, it will sound good though !!

Cheers,

if it was me id go 14/15" mine are currently 13s and on coilovers, the wheels just spin too easy and im constantly catching the wishbones! should have some pslots soon though!

in that case, i think i will go for 14's most of the time and some sweet looking 13's for trip to shows
