my first mk1 golf clipper 1.8 8v :)

Just got my first ever mk1, big Vw fanatic, had 2 mk2s and a vr6 before her but always wanted a mk1 cab.





Now I have got her not sure where to start!

My first mk1 so far…

She's just had a new clutch and new gearbox from a mk3 golf, and I am really tempted to swap the pappy piesburg for a twin weber with 8v manifold.

Eventually, I am going to put some uprated brakes on here, prob g60 ones if i can find some and a nice new stainless then hopefully I wil be satisifeld.

Got a few other tweaks to go…and have just discovered that she leaks in somewhere Prob the door card issue as with my old mk2….

Yet another job!


Can anyone recommend any good garages who know what they are doing with these cars in the North west?  In particular I am looking for someone to jet my carb when I eventually get one!

congrats on your first mk1 u wont regret it.

When u get your carbs theres a place in burry (manchester) called re performance they specalise in carbs and twin set ups.

also for any outher stuff boadman brothers are good they specialise in old v dubs.
