My '83 Silver Campaign

This is the 1983 Diamond Silver Campaign I recently purchased.  I've loved mk1 gti's for years but this is the first one I have owned!  Thought I would put a few pics to show everyone, its really clean outside it just needs a few rust spots and scratches sorting out.  The interior is completely standard, it just needs a bit of a clean and it should be really smart all round (pics to follow when the headlining is replaced). I wish I had the skills and space to start a mk1 from scratch and do a complete restoration but sadly living in a flat I haven't.








I'm looking for some help deciding which way to go with this.  It's got a mk2 16v engine in it, but with it being a campaign I didn't know whether to replace it with a rebuilt original 1.8 8v engine?  Keep the double headlight or grill or replace it with single? Also, I like the p slot alloys but I can't help thinking a set of nice deep dish alloys would really set it off.  Let me know what you think….

Keep it as orginal as you can, looks like a top motor there well done.
