My 83 GX!!!!!

Hey everyone.
So i've finally got myself a free night that i can relax and start up my project thread. Its taken me since march to get this started up but i've been fairly busy. So anyway, the project.

Since around late 2007 early 2008 i had realised that a mk1 was definitely the car for me, so i got on the hunt with absolutely no luck in finding anything close by or in a semi good price range. But that wasn't gonna stop me. I kept hunting and hunting and hunting. Then back in february of this year i gave in and realised i just couldn't find a good one reasonably close by or worth buying on my budget.
It could only have been a week or so of the hunt being over when i hit up pistonheads and found and immaculate 83 GX only a half hours drive from where i stay which is Perth. It was priced at ?850 which to me seemed like a good deal, so i got in contact with the seller and we arranged a viewing. I showed up at his house and could see the beauty sitting outside. I pretty much instantly knew that this was the one. So anyway, my uncle who is a mechanic and myself had a little snype around and had a we test drive. everything seemed pretty sound and in good working condition, the interior is immaculate and so is the body work apart from some minor rust patches but nothing to serious. An offer was made at ?800 and a handshake was exchanged. I got the keys and off we drove back home. Best day of my life, i swear!!!
So once she was back home and i had come to terms with the fact i had finally bought my first mk1 money started falling out my pockets. The first thing bought was some new gear linkage as the rods kept slipping off when selecting 5th, so easy fix and problem solved. After that i picked myself up a set of the hottunning coilovers from ebay and got a brand new set of G60 steelies off my mate that works in Camerons Volkswagen garage in Perth. Since then nothing else has been purchased, apart from some chrome side trims, rear arch spats from crazyquiffs and some back to black for the grey tinted bumpers.
For the moment she is still sitting completely standard as i've had no time whatsoever to get the coilies on or the steelies. However i am now gonna kick it up a notch and get her kitted out.

Heres some pics for the time being.

I will get some good pictures taken of her as soon as possible, so stay tuned for more. All comments welcome, i'm knew to the scene and really keen to get involved.

Thanks for having a look.
Dunc :D

Thanks guys :)
P-slots are getting polished up and then i'll decide. They've got an almost new set of continentals on them that cost a fair bit so i dunno. Most likely selling them though i think.
Also thought i'd say that she passed her MOT this morning with flying colours so i'm in a good mood :D

Jesus, i just realised how long it's actually been since i updated this.

Just to keep you all in the know, the car is now booked in for a re-spray in January. All the rust is getting repaired, most of it just cut out and having it welded. Re-sprayed the same colour as i want to keep it fairly original. All the plugs and filters should be getting replaced this month as she is running a bit poorly at the moment.
Also getting the steelies banded in January so I'm hoping she'll be near complete end of January early February.

Will get some photos added soon as i have a few good ones on the camera.

Who else is having problems with their cars in this freezing weather? My fan went just before christmas and so i am not able to de-frost the car at all. Absolute nightmare in this weather. I'm working every day and by the time i'm finished it's always dark and perishing cold and so i'm unable to take a look at it and get things sorted. Same for my mk2, it won't even start at the moment and the handbrake has seized on. Starting to get pretty tired with this weather. :banghead:

Yeah it's brilliant like. Definitely, 4 doors are awesome and so practical. The sun roof is a nice little touch for sure, great for summer driving. It's meant to be going in for paint on saturday then i'll get my coilies on and once the cash flow is good again some new wheels. Taken far to long for this project to actually get started.

here's some photo's of the car with the wheels and shockies on. Taken me so long to get this done, but I'm so pleased with how it has turned out. I only just got it finished this morning so it's still filthy, but I will give it a good clean and get some more photo's up for use.

Here's a few for now…

 I was at work accross the road at the alfa garage

Looks nice on the classics and the paint works looking tidy!

You really have to be careful with the 13's eh? Mines used to scrape everywhere

Aaaw right, nice one.

Yeah I'm so pleased with it and the paint i couldn't be more happy with. Unfortunately some mug keyed the fs passenger door about a month after i had it done. To deep to polish out so it needs to be sanded down and re-done :(

Yeah mate totally.. Scrapes off everything. Gotta drive so much slower. Worth it though.
