its newquay cornwall. im kind of liking it the way it is at the minute but the things i thought of straight away is an oldskool roofrack as i dont think my board would fit inside, a nice set of bbs rims, drop it a little maybe. saw a nice mesh visor thing on a caddy the other day. cash may prevent the work for the time being though.

the guy has had it for a long time and its been kept under a cover at night when left outside. hopefully i can keep it in good nick, as you know though the salty rain is a killer, rust is slowly eating our splitscreen.

That looks very straight and tidy! Funny seeing a different style dash on a series 2. Your sporting the same steel wheels as me.   I can see why you had to have it when you first saw it…especially with a full MOT.  :D

it bought back memorys of my old formel e and it was too much of a bargain to pass up, he was looking to just get what he paid to get it through the mot so he could break even (?420) as he has a fiat 20v to pay for.

yes it was the car that did it, it could have been 50% rust and i still would have got it, the guy is accepting ?100 a month from me - i have no savings so would of not had the chance to even get a car. its worked out ok really, the missus is going to kill me when she finds out i bought it, lol.

oh yeah the seat covers are shocking, he has put even worse red ones on too.

Nice car, I especially like the dash. :y:  Do you know whre it origionally came from?

Left hookers are not that hard to drive, just watch where you are with the lanes/centre lines as you tend to wander out.

Oh and get used to smacking the drivers door with your left hand.
You'll be going for gearchanges automatically and it'll take a fair while to retrain your brain.

just popped round the guys house to get all the documents and he told me the history of it. a german woman purchased it brand new in germany and the book has two stamps in germany, one is in rosenheim in 83 and the other is somewhere else in germany the following year them in 1985 she came to england and used it for a family car in london and then my mate bought it in 2000 i think.

we had a chat about it and the only things he has done to it are the 14inch steels, gear knob and door pins and the grill a lick of red paint. im now not sure i want to do alot to it as i want to keep it as is with the exception of a roof rack maybe.

we were going to take it for a drive but the battery is flat after standing for the last week so as soon as thats sorted i shall let you know how i get on. got a feeling i might loose both the door mirrors  :D

One thing you can have a laugh with in a LHD…take a front passenger on the road with you and have them hold a broadsheet newspaper in front of their face…see how many people stare at the car as you fly past!

managed to get it started at last and had a little drive in it today. the fuel pipe had perished at one end and there was no fuel getting to the engine, we found this out after a few attempts to bump/jump start. its been bodged as a temporary fix and the pipe will need replacing sometime soon, not sure how much this is going to be or how easy it is ti find the part required.

right then, the test drive.

after letting it warm up for a few minutes the engine ticked over nice and smoothly - not too noisy considering that it has covered 246000 km's. did a few laps of the school and tennis courts and got the hang of the gears, as predicted there were a few times where i smacked to door with my hand   ventured out the school and did a lap of the block and it went a treat. its in good condition inside and the outsides not too bad (some rust around the ffsr) considering its lived in cornwall for the past 8 or so years.

all in all im buzzing about the car, im going to do everything i can to keep it going as long as possible - decided not to do anything mod wise to it apart from a nice set of german plates and maybe a spotlight and aa badge for the front seeing as im going to need to join them.

well chuffed  :D  :D  :D
