my 1st mk1 cabby project

After yrs of loving mk1 golfs i came across this cabby from a new lad at work. Always wanted a tin top rather than a cab before but after seeing her i knew i had to have her. the car has been off the road for 4 yrs and then 6 months ago it finally had time spent on it. It had full strip down new wings and bonnet and reprayed in reflex silver. it was then partly put together before i bought her,  so this is where my project starts.

i decided i wanted to go down the route of slight mods but keeping the original good looks and keeping it smooth.

i first noticed that the wings that were fitted were after market and had know side repeaters or holes for fitting the original repeaters i had with all the spares. i couldnt decide which way to go untill a ford focus came into work and i loved the side repeaters. i took a template from the body ordered some repeaters and got to work.

At first i was very nervous of cutting my brand new freshly painted wings but once plucked up the courage i decided to go 4 it. i used a dremmel and took my time and this was the outcome.

it took me a few hours but i was more than happy with the out come. I like to be different and i hope it is one of a kind on a mk1.

I then decided to look into which wheels i most liked and after alot of looking i came across these,

Came with 4 good tyres and adaptors to fit straight on. i cleaned up the dish and sprayed them satin black and cleaned up the polished faces.
